THURSDAY 5TH MARCH. 7.30PM. WORLD BOOK DAY TASTING AND QUIZ

After the success of last year's World Book Day tasting, we're thrilled to bring it back — this time with a quiz twist!

We'll be tasting a selection of wines inspired by famous works of literature, with each wine launching a five-question quiz round. The questions won't all be strictly about books, but there will be a literary thread running through the night.

So whether you're a devoted bookworm, a general knowledge whizz, or just here for the wine, an enjoyable evening is guaranteed.

Once again, we'll be embracing the spirit of World Book Day and dusting off our finest literary costumes. Fancy dress isn't compulsory, but heroic efforts may be rewarded with more generous wine pours. We'll also be awarding a vinous prize for the best costume on the night.

This tasting is £36 per person rather than the usual £35 as we'll be donating £2 from every ticket to the World Book Day charity. World Book Day works to promote reading for pleasure, particularly among children and young people, helping to ensure that books and stories are accessible to everyone — regardless of background. So you can taste, quiz, and dress up knowing you're also supporting a brilliant cause.

Set high on the northern plateau of Spain, Ribera del Duero follows the winding Duero River through Castilla y León, with vineyards sitting at dramatic altitudes of up to 900 metres. Hot days, cold nights, and tough growing conditions shape wines of remarkable intensity, freshness, and structure.

Although winemaking here stretches back centuries, Ribera del Duero is a relatively young appellation, gaining DO status in 1982. Since then, it has become synonymous with world-class Tempranillo (locally known as Tinto Fino), producing wines that balance ripe fruit with savoury depth and serious ageing potential.

This tasting will explore the region's history, landscape, and evolving styles — from powerful, oak-driven classics to fresher, more modern interpretations. If you're a fan of top quality Spanish reds, this is the tasting for you!
